' . : Sib,—No one at all acquainted with Alfred Weippert could give credence to the assertions embodied in his gratuitous attack upon me,' when seeking to explain away the maladministration of the above Home. I may state that there is not one word of truth in his statements that I have on several occasions been befrieuded by the Army ; that J. was summarily expelled from the above institution "for unreasoning resistance to rightful authority"; lastly, that I am attacking the Home out of a revengeful spirit; I went into the Home for a month about a year ago, with a view, to isolating myself from the temptations to drink which the cityafforded. I left of my own accord,' and certainly : bear the Army no ill will. ■ I nave no intentional ever repeating the I experiment, and, thank God,' I nave no necessity to do so, as I have for some time past been creditably filling a good business position in the city, , ine challenges I issued a week ago to Adjutant Williams and -Gaoler Reston remain v unanswered, and Alfred-Weipperfc s letter may be implicitly received by the public as proof of my assertion that the Prison Gate.
