Press Association.- Electric Telegraph.— BUTLER'S EXTRADITION. Sydney, July 28.' The Attorney-General, through the Secretary of State for the Colonies, has received from the American Government a heavy bill of costs in connection with the extradition of Butler. This claim has caused considerable surprise, the rule as far as the colony is concerned, being not to make any charge against foreign countries for extradition. Irrespective of the American claim, the amount of the State's expenses in this colony over the Butler case is wry small. _ RIFLE ASSOCIATION OP AUSTRALASIA. Mklbookxk, July 28. At) a reeling of the Rifle Association « • communication was received from the New South Wales Association, stating that it -< had decided to withdraw from the Council of the Rifle Association of Australasia.' The grounds of the withdrawal are' that the council as at present constituted ii of no practical utility, there being no continuing organisation to carry out the resolutions passed at annual meetings.' The last meeting of the council held in. New Zealand was instanced, when a resolution was carried favouring the sanding of a .. ..■> federal team to Bisley, The matter then ended so far as federal action was con* cerned, but three of the federated associations arranged separately to send 'team*.
