' A- start' was rery quickly effected, Arkle first breaking .the Jine, with W/eatliOr next, the field coining on at a fast pace, which soon proved too much for'Guerasey. After going five furlongs Arkle was done with, and Velasquez and Minstrel, side by side, bye une the leaders, Ualtee More lying on the extreme right. ' Directly the dip was reached (ialteu More strode pist , the leaden with great ease, and ronipin;' un the hill, won by four lengths. Berzak finished strongly, and a he.id only separated second from third, and third from fourth. Wreath Or being fifth. Value of the stikea, £3700. The Duenna fllly, on the right, mad* the running from Chelandry, with l.owly ami fortalice on the left, and Galatia and Perce Niege in the centre, while Goletta lay just behind Chelandry. In this order t ey ran until after passing the Bushes Hill, wheu the Duenna filly cave way, and soon afterwards Goletta was in trouble. Chelandry, who was going well within herself, shot out with a clear le»tl in the Abington Mile Bottom, followed by Galatia, and won in a canter by two lengths; a length and abalf between *ecoml and third. Tba Duenna flUy was fourth, Lowly fifth, Perce Neige sixth, Fortalice seventh, and Floriane last.
