HOW TO COMMEMORATE THE QUEEN'S KEtGN". PULL OF THE HEADERS OP THE HERALD. We have suggested that a poll of the people should be taken on the principal proposals that have been brought forward in connection with the commemoration of the Diamond Jubilee of the Queen, in order that the scheme favoured by the greatest number may be ascertained. The Mayor, however, does not feel disposed to act upon the suggestion; at all events he has not made any sign of doing so. We have, therefore, resolvod to afford the readers of the Herald an opportunity of determining the scheme which in their opinion should be adopted as the best and most appropriate manner of perpetuating the memory of the great and unique historical event which will be celebrated next month. We print below a voting paper containing six proposals. Each voter, how. ever, may make a suggestion of his or her own, should none of the six be ap. proved of. It is desirable, however, that one of the six should be selected. The voter is requested to strike out each proposal for which he or she does not intend to vote by drawing a line through the same with a pen or pencil, leaving only the proposal which he or she is in favour of unmarked in this way The voting paper after being dealt with in the foregoing manner should be signed or initialled by the voter, cut out, and sent to the Herald Office, addressed to the Editor. If placed in an unclosed envelope it may be sent through the post for one half-penny. The poll will remain open until Saturday next, May 29, and all voting papers should reach the Hekald Office not later than Monday, May 31. VOTING %fjftss* PAPER.
