The report of the outgoing committee was read, also the Inspector of Schools' report, which spoke highly of the progress, efficiency, and discipline of the school under the managemeat of Miss Algie. The following persons were elected a committee for the ensuing year, viz., Messrs. McKibbin, Cathcart, Morrow, O'Neill, and Andrew. The usual votes terminated the meeting. Subsequently Mr. J. Andrew was elected chairman.— Correspondent.] MANGERE. At the annual meeting of householders Mr. W. Westney was elected chairman. The chairman of the outgoing committee, Mr. M. M. Kirkbride, read the report and balance-sheet. The report showed the attendance on March 31 at the Bridge School to be 77*7 on the roll, and an average of 65'30, and the number on the roll of the Mangere School to be 68, and the average 57. During the year the Board of Education had connected the Bridge School with the water service of the Mangere Domain. This gives that school a supply of pure water compared with that formerly obtained from the tanks. The committee regretted that the Mangere School still bad to depend on rain water from tanks. The Board had during the past year repaired and improved the ventilators, Venetian blinds, chimneys, etc., at the Bridge School, and the committee had applied for some similar repairs to the Mangere School. The school fund allowance was quite inadequate. The sum of £16 was allowed for the lastnamed school. Out of this £12 went for cleaning, and about £2 for fuel. Then there was school stationery, cleaning of tanks, grubbing of furze, etc., all to be done out of a revenue of £16. Inspector Goodwin examined the schools for standards at the end of September, and the result showed a high state of efficiency at the schools. Sixty-nine were on the roll at the Maugere School, 47 were present and 42 passed. Ninety-one at that time were on the roll at the Bridge School (rather a large proportion were infants) 64 were present and 58 passed. Mr. and Mrs. Mellsop, Mrs. Woodward, and the pupil-teachers were warmly thanked for their kindness in getting up entertainments to provide funds for the annual picnic.
