GROWN LANDS BOARD

Tin: usual meeting of the Crown Lands Board took place yesterday. Present: Messrs. G. Mueller (Crown Lands Commissioner), R. Thompson, I). Lundon, J. Renshaw, and Hon. Major Harris. Summary of Lands Disposed or,—The nummary of lands sold from 20th March to 24th April, 1897 : Occupation with right of purchase, 2107 acres; lease in perpetuity, 2085 acres; cash selections, 2420 acres: total, 36 selectors of 6612 acres.

' Advances to Settlers' Act. — The Board approved of n number of mortgages under trie Act.

Timber Flotage License. — Messrs. • Mitchelson Brothers applied for tho renewal of their timber flotage license, also the right for constructing two dams, one on section 20 and tho second on suotion 19, Block XL, Waipoua survey district : Erection of dams granted, subject to the responsibility of applicants for all datnago that might be caused by driving or from their dams. Smith Brothers applied for a timber flotage license over the Omaru and Mongonui Rivers: Kesolved to grant a license for floating in Mongonui River and tributaries, from its junction with the Wairoa River to its junction with the Omaru River; also, the floating in Omaru River and its tributaries. Amount of bond I to be £700.

Applications.—F. F. Mosig applied to be allowed to live off hie section, 179, Parish Waipareira. Leave granted to 31st Sept. next, aid applicant to be informed that residential condition! must) be complied with in future. A. A. Brooking applied for leave of absence from her section 1, Block IX., Whakatane, on account of ill health. Leave granted to 31st December next. F. J. Good applied to be allowed to live off his section, No. 8, Block XVI., Rotorua. Applicant to be informed that residence conditions must be complied with. Antonio Vera applied to be allowed to live off bis perpetual lease, seption 120, Te Kopuru parish. Resolved, "That he be permitted to reside off bis perpetual leaso section on effecting double the required improvements. Arrears of Rent.—G. White forwarded arrears of rent for sections 62, 72, and 73, Block IX., Waoku. . Resolution of forfeiture rescinded.

Thirds.—Schemes for the expenditure of thirds were received from the following local bodies : — Road Boards : Maungakaramea, VVairoa, Otonga, Manga wai, Wuiuku West, Waiuku East, Opaheke. County Councils: Whakatana, Whangarei, Whangaroa, Raglan, and Waitemata, Approved.
