At a publio meeting held here to-night, presided over by the Mayor, a strong committee was appointed to canvass the town for subscriptions in aid of the Hawke's Bay Relief Fund. [BIT TItLIOUAHt.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Tuesday. Mr. George Masscy Watson, a wealthy gentleman of Monte Video,at present touring the colony, has donated £50 to the Hawke's Bay Belief Fund. Brisbane, April 27. The Mayor of Brisbane is calling a meeting to raise funds for the sufferers by the Hawke's Bay floods. Napier, Tuesday. The trawler Endon, when fishing about seven miles from the shore, fetohed up two bodies floating amid debris and dead animals. They were much mutulated by fishes, and the features were quite unrecognisable; but by the clothing they have been identified as those of J. Rose and H. Brierley, two of the rescue party lost last Friday week. Among other subscription, the members of the Ministry send £50, Mrs. Lowry gives £50, Gisborne (second donation) £63, Huddart, Parker, and Co. give £21 and offer to carry produce free, Waipawa £50, Fielder 33, Pahiatua £30, New Zealand Shipping Company £20, Mr. Douglas McLean another £50, in addition to his previous £100. A buggy, with a horse harnessed to It, has been washed upon the bench at Nuhaka. It is not locally owned. Nkw Plymouth, Tuesday. The Hawke's Bay flood relief fund now amounts to £270, inoluding £14 7s, the proseeds of a benefit given by Probasoo's circus last night. Christohurok, Tuesday. This afternoon the Hawke's Bay Flood Committee decided to amalgamate with the Record Reign Committee, and to request the officers, executive, and sub-committees of that body to act for the relief fund. About £250 have already been subscribed towards the fund. Dunedin, Thursday, Exclusive of what has been sent direct to the Mayor of Napier the local relief fund now exceeds £300.
