During the month of January the number of horses exported from Great Britain was 2210, against 2081 in January, 1896; of these MOD'were sent to Belgium, 404 to Holland, 290 to France, and 99 to other countries. The value was £38.931, against £30,257 last year. There were 2400 horses imported during the month, against 1347 last year; of these 1683 came from the United States, 86 from Canada, and 631 from other countries. The value was £65,874, compared with £38,049 in January last year.
