Dβ. J. Somerville returned from Sydney by the Manapouri yesterday. Dr. Baldwin was a passenger to Wellington by tbe Tak&pmm yesterday. Mr. Grant, of the local railway staff, left for Wellington yesterday by theTakapnna. Captain Stenbeck, of the wrecked scow Pirate, arrived from Gisborne by the Waiham yesterday. Mr. C. P. His sight has been completely restored. The old boys of the Ponsbnby District School intend presenting an illuminated address to Mr. B. Bailey, who has for many years been headmaster of the school. The address, which is a tastefully framed and decorated one, is at present on exhibition in tbe window of Messrs. Hill and Plummer, Queen-street. Ninety-four signatures are attached to it. A very pretty choral wedding took place in St. Paul's Cathedral, Dunedin, last week, when two members of the choir (Mr. (.'. Dickinson and Miss A. Huetton) were the contracting parties. "The Voice that Breathed O'er Eden" and "Deus Miieraatur" were among the vocal numbers, and tbe organist (Mr. W, E. Taylor) played the usual wedding marches in his artistic style. On behalf of the choir, tbe Veo. Archdeacon Robinson prewnted a silver teapot and butter-dish to tbe happy couple.
