[B7 TELEQBAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Wellington, Monday. MINISTERIAL. All the members of the Cabinet are in town except the Premier. The Minister of Public Works has returned from the flooded districts iu Hawke'a Bay. Hie report, lam informed, will be considered to-morrow. POLITICAL. I hear from thoroughly informed sources that in the South there in considerable politioal nativity. The names of several of the Government supporters are mentioned as wavering in their allegiance. It ia said that immediately after the return of the Premier there will be a reconstruction of the Ministry, and one or two of the candidates returned at the recent general elections will he offered portfolios. Mr. Fish, the member for Dunedin, ie said to be worse in point of health. It is affirmed that some of the supporters of the Government have become very "uncertain" in their professions. The general effect is that public opinion is changing very rapidly in the southern electorates. GOVERNMENT LIFE ASSURANCE. Mr. Speight, Auckland agent of this Department, is at present in Wellington. His visit, I understand, is in connection with the work of hie district. EVIL REPORTS. There has been going the round of the colony a mysterious report) that the police here were on the track of a poisoning case. I am now in a position to say that the allegation is without the slightest foundation.
