DEMAND FOR IMPROVEMENTS. [BY TELEGBAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Wellington, Monday. There is an agitation on foot here for an extension of the presentsystem so as to secure alternative communication with the South in the event of pressure caused either by accident or bad weather. The interest in this matter has arieen out of the complaints made by the New Zealand Hebald of the •tate of things consequent upon the etorm of last week. The matter will probably be brought up at the next meeting of the Wellington Chamber of Commerce.
