The annual general meeting of the Waikatt Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club was held last night. Mr. George Edgecumbe occupied the chair. The treasurer's statement showed the total receipts for the Club's first meeting to have been £53 16s 3d (including member* fees) ; the expenditure totalled up to £49 lfc Id, leaving a credit balance in hand of £42! Id, with a few more subscriptions still U come in. Tho following names were added to the list of vice • presidents ■- Messrs. Wilson (New Zealand Herald) Farrer, Atkinson, and Dr. Brewis. Mr. A E. Manning was elected as a member of the committee. It was decided to organise a series of bicycle races. Mr. J. Hammond was elected captain, and Mr. C. Blackburn deputy-captain. It was decided to hold » cross-country steeplechase race on the first Saturday in Juue. The second sports meeting of the club was arranged to be held in October, but the date was not fixed. The discussion of forming a quarter mile bankedup bicycle track, with a running track on the outer edge occupied a considerable time, and was finally left to a couple of the members to see what success they would meet with ii regard to raising funds for the work. Mr. Blackburn was re-elected hon. secretary and treasurer, and a vote of thanks passed him for his efforts during the oast on behalf of the club.

Te Awamoto, Saturday. At the Magistrate's Court held here o*. Wednesday, before Captain Jackson, S.M., near the whole day was occupied in heariM the evidence of the Te Kuiti stabbing cue, The two men, Carlson and White, were charged with stabbing a man named Kenneth Bayne at Kuiti on the 16th of December last The Hon. J. A. Tole appeared for the prosecution, and the acoused were defended by Mr. Gresham. The evidence of Bayne wsi taken fully, also of several other witnesses, including the landlord of the house in which the alleged assault took place. The prisoners, who reserved their defence, were committed to take their trial at the next sitting of the Supreme Court, to be held is Auckland at the end of next month.

The bath receipts for the month of March amounted to £8714s 6d, as against £63 las 6d for the corresponding month of last year, The quarterly receipts amount to £260 3s 3d, compared with £1227 7s 9d for the first three months of 1896.
