CHRYSANTHEMUM SHOW AT CAMBRIDGE.

The sixth annual exhibition of the Cambridge Chrysanthemum Society was opened yesterday afternoon by Mr. W. Herries, M.H.R. The attendance gradually increased during the afternoon, a large number of visitors arriving by the special excursion train from Auckland. The blooms, though not exceeding in quantity those of last year, show a decided improvement in cultivation and appearance. The table decorations are more original and varied than at any previous shows; in fact, I the same may be said of all the ladies' exhibits. Owing to this being holiday week there is a falling off in the number of children's bouquets, etc., though some very original designs are represented, including a stork, windmill, bellows, tent, pyramid, etc. The first prize for a vase or twenty-five Japanese blooms of one variety was awarded to Mr. T. Wells, out of six entries. This stand forms a striking feature of the show. Some very good pot plants are exhibited. Refreshments were dispensed _ by ladies during the afternoon, while at intervals an excellent orchestra, under the leadership of Mr. J. H. Edwards, performed selections. The marquee is beautifully decorated with bush foliage. The following is the prize schedule OPKN CUSS. Cut BLOOMS-CHRVSANTBEMCMS - 48 varieties, •Japanese, 1 bluom each : T.
