In regard to feeding plants, the following advice is worth consideration:—Do nob make the serious mistake of feeding your plant* too highly. A forced growth, iuch as results from over-feeding, is always an unhealthy growth, and by and by a reaction is pretty sure to set in. Aim to keep your planti making a healthy growth, and when you see that (hey are doing that be satisfied with it. In relation to harvest prospects in Argentina, the latest news is quite calamitous. The Buenos Ayres Standard— paper not given to under-rating crops—says that tbe devastation in the wheat fields of Santa Pe and Entre Bios ii complete, as the little spared by the locusts has been spoilt by inclement weather. Santa Fβ , grows more than half the wheat crop of Argentina, the area in that province being returned at 3,740,000 acres. The loss of wheat in the two provinces named is reckoned to be about 2,300,0000/1. In other provinces, where locusts have been less destructive, floods have destroyed the crops to a great extent, In parts of Buenos Ayrei, where the crop promised well, the locusts did an immense amount of damage on the eve of harvest. In Cordoba the farmers are said to be in as bad a plight as in Santa Fe*. Relief committees, which have been appointed in several provinces, estimate the total damage at 4,50Q,000qr5, worth about five and ahalf million pounds sterling to the farmers.
