The Rev. Mr. Findliy, Presbyteriw minister, tied the indissoluble 3' knot, and the young couple left for Rotorna f to spend the honeymoon, after which the] -'twill come back and settle down here. Th< next was Mr. Stevenson, an'employee in the v Pukekohe Butter Factory who, feeling tired .s of a life of single blessedness, was determined to throw in nil lot with Mist Pollock, • i daughter of one of our old and respected ii settlers. The Rev. Mr. Findlay in this cue also performed the marriage ceremony. Th( ;• young couple with their friends left the ; church amidst the well wishes of thou ',: present, and retired to the residence of tinjV bride's parents, where, with many friends, the occasion was celebrated amidst much' rejoicing. Then we have the two daughters of Mrs, Gill, who were married last week; one to| Mr. Oldham, of Tuakau, flax-miller and rope- j maker; the other to Mr. F. Warren, head, master of the Tuakau school. While the young are marrying, the last enemy is still at work, and has taKen from ';' us the relict of the late Mr. Jones. - MrV Jones has been residing with her daughter;':: Mrs. Ralph Young, since her husband's, death. The old lady had reached a good, age, and her remains were interred in thi Pukekohe Cemetery on Monday last. The Board of Education has had th« : ; school, school attachments, and the teacher's' house freshly painted, and these are put oat" of hand by the contractor in a thoroughly workmanlike manner. — [Own Correspond dent.] 1 - r PUKEKOHE EAST. : In connection with the harvest festival ser - vices were held in the Presbyterian Church f on the 18th and 19th instant. The building was elaborately decorated throughout wits ■: ferns, creepers, flowers, etc. Rev. Ml j Findlay preached on Sunday morning, and| Rev, F. B. Oldham in the evening. Tin churchy was well filled on both occasion* i Collections were taken up towards the renovation of the building. On Monday evening % a sale of produce was held, followed by ate* supper. Splendid weather prevailing there'; was a capital attendance. The festival m up-to-date, and a vote of thanks was passed ? to all who had contributed to make it fcS success. ,9^ On Friday evening, the 16th instant, the'! monthly meeting of the Baud of Hope took | place. There was a good attendance and 4 lengthy programme, Mr. H. Wake presidingS Addresses were given by the chairman aol Messrs. Russell and Robinson. Kecitationi were contributed by Misses E.
