EASTER MONDAY.
Yesterday the holiday proved very fine, and the result was that everybody availed themselves of the opportunity to enjoy it. There was a large attendance at the Eilerslie races, and a goodly number took advantage of the cheap railway excursion to Helensville to attend the races at that township. The Easter Bowling Tournament was also well patronised. A very large number went on water excursions to the various parts of the harbour and to tho Thames. In the evening the places of amusement were well attended.
THE WATER EXCURSIONS. The fine weather prevailing yesterday incduced a large number of citizens to take advantage of the various excursions on the water. The Wakatere left for the Thames earl/ in the porning with a large number of excursionists, her accommodation being filled to overflowing, and the Waimarie had to be placed on the berth in order to keep pace with the demand. The Kiaora went to Putiki Bay, and the Rose Casey to Waiwera and Mahurangi Heads, both being well filled. The Admiral went to Tiritiri with a large number. The Devonport Ferry Company's steamers to Pine Island, Devonport, Birkenhead, Lake Takapuna, St. Ueliers Bay, Motutapu, and Rangitoto were all largely patronised.
