We are in receipt of a copy of the ei»hth annual report of the Witwatersrand Chamber of Mines, Johannesburg. It is a well-bound volume of ov«r 300 pages, and among othei things includes particulars as to mining regulations, the treatment and disposal of tail, ings and slimts, geological formation of th» Rand, treatment of ores, etc. The report states 'hat notwithstanding the scarcity oi native libour, the total output of gold from the V\ :twatersrand for last year wsi 2,'280,89iz-an increase of 32320z over last year's. Colone A. LeMessurier, 0110 of the directors of bio Wailii Consolidated and Royal Standardilines, is at present in Auckland, having airived per s.s. Tasmania yesterday. Colonel Kessurier and Mr. K. Cooper, who is also in this city, intend paying a visit to tile mines nod, and to other properties, GENERAL MINING ITEMS. The ordimrv general meetings of the Bay View, Adelaide, Coroinandel Freehold Proprietary, Taitihana, Mount Auriim, Hit-on Miss, or British Empire Gold Mining Companies, will b< held on Tuesday, April 27. A special peneral meeting of the British Empire Gold Mining Company is called for April 27. A meeting J subscribers for shares in the Wires special claim, Whangamata, is called for Thursday lext, for the formation of the company and deotion of officers, etc.,
