EASTER MONDAY.
The principal feature of the amusements for Easter Monday will be the Ellerslie races, a railway excursion to Helensville, and water excursions, etc. The railway authorities have made every arrangemeut for conveying the public safely and expeditiously to and from Elleralie. A cheap trip to the Kaipara is provided by the excursion train which leaves Auckland early on Monday morning, as notified by advertisement elsewhere, for the Helensville races. The feres are almost nominal, and should also be an inducement to those desirous of benefiting by the hot springs at Parkhurst, a mile and a-half distant from Helensville, and now getting into considerable favour through their healing qualities. Water excursions. For Easter Monday quite a large number of water excursions are announced. The Kiaora leaves for Putiki Bay at 10 a.m.: the Rose Casey for Waiwera and Mahurangi Heads at 10 a.m.: the Vivid runs an excursion to Motuihi, leaving at 10 a.m.; the Akaroa leaves tor Motuihi at 9 a.m. with the Helping Hand Mission picnio party. In another column will be found the Devonport Ferry Company's list of excursions, which Includes trips to Lake Takapuna, St. Hellers Bay, Pine Island, Rangitoto, and Motutapu, the steamers which go to the latter place proceeding to the fishing grounds after landing passengers. An excursion to the Thames by the Wakatere will take place and a very large number are expected as passengers. A hand has been engaged, and as the Thames Foresters are providing an excellent programme of 'cycling and pedestrian events, the trip should be an enjoyable one.
