[VI TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONEKNT.] Thames, Friday. Tie animal meetings of the Auckland District Association of Baptist Churches were held to-day, in the Mary-street Church. The following ministers and delegates were present:—Auckland Tabernacle, Her. j. Wolfemlen, Messrs. J. T. Gar licit, S. U. llatthewe, R. B. Shalders ; Ponsonby, Rev. A. H. Collins, Mr. W. H. Patterson; lounc Eden, Mr. J. Penman ; Thames, fcv. R. Woolley, Messrs. J. Renshaw, M. Wiitehead, C. J. Brown, and A. J. Smith ; Mr. Harry Long, the missionary employed by the Association. A business meeting of delegates was held In the morning, at 11 o'clock. The public teseion of the Association commenced at 2.30 in the afternoon, when the chair wan taken by Mr. S. H. Matthews, the president for the year. The annual report and balanceilieet were presented, and were of a most latlefactory character. The work of Mr. Long among the gunidiggers and settlers of the north had been carried on with great rigour and success. The total receipts for the year were £160 Bs, and the expenditure £1509s lid, leaving a credib balance of £3 18s Id. A scheme was adopted by the Assembly providing for the training and equipment of lay preachers. A resolution of sympathy with the Armenian Christians hi their continued oppression was unanimously passed. The Rev, A. H. Collins gave an interesting account of his recent visits to Whangarei and Albertland Districts, and was warmly thanked for his Mrvices to the association.
The election of officers for the ensuing rir resulted as follows:—Presidont, Rev. F. Jones, Mount Eden; vice-president, Rev. i. Clark, Minister elect of the Tabormcle; treasurer, Mr. J. T, Oarlick; eecretaty, Mr. W. H. Patterson, Ponsonby; committee: Revs. A. H. Collins, and W. B, Woolley, Messrs. Penman, Spedding, and S. H. Matthews. A public meeting was held in the evening, when addressee were given by Rev. J. Wolfenden (Victoria), Rev. A. H. Collins (Ponsonby), and Mr. Harry Long, Theßev. W.R. Woolley presided.
