THE THAMES SHOOTING CASE.

[by telkqraph.— own correspondent.] Thames, Thursday. At the Police Court to-day, before Messrs. Renßhaw and Tizard, J.P's,, George Osborn was brought up on remand and charged with attempting to murder Samuel Agnewon the 27th of March last. A second charge, of inflicting bodily harm, was also laid against him. Sergeant Gillies conducted the prosecution, and decided to take the second charge first. Mr, Clendon appeared on behalf of accused. The evidence of Dr. Williams as to the wound inflicted by the bullet from the revolver and the use of the X Rays process to locate it, and of Nurse Jourdaln was taken first. The chief witness, Samuel Agnew, was then sworn. He detailed the circumstances leading up to the firing of the revolver by Osborn, which he said was purposely done, but which accused protested was an accident. The other witnesses were Charles Ladner, Wm. Bane, Mrs. Thornton, and Constable Miller, who stated what occurred after the shooting, but little further light was afforded save as to the witnesses corroborating the statements made by Agnew and accused, the one claiming that the affair was deliberately done and the other that it was accidental. At blip conclusion of the evidence Mr. Clendon addressed the Court at length, urging that no jury would convict upon the unsupported testimony of Agnew, after which the justices retired for a tew minutes for the purpose of considering their decision. On returning into court thoy said they had decided to dismiss tho case, as there was no evidence of intent. They added, however, that in their opinion the police had dono quite right in bringing the case into court for investigation.
