TRAINING NOTES. At Ellerslie yesterday morning Nestor performed a strong gallop over » mile and a half on the plough, moving throughout in a very resolute manner, and finished strongly. Dayatar having performed strong exercise the previous afternoon was apportioned a light task, as was also St. Paul. Haria put in strong work, moving well. TRAINING NOTES. Manawanui and Goldleaf appeared well matched in a callnp over six furlongs, and Vanilla was extended over seven, going well, and Social Peat covered nearly n mile well. Mareinma and Lord Roslyu put in a good gallop over six and a-half furlongs, and Leda and St. Elmo went nearly the same distance in company, striding out freely. Belle Claire brought Black and Red along strongly over the last five furlongs of a gallop, in which her companion was carrying the sweating rug. Barshot was on the walking list.

On the course proper, Vanitas caused n sensation by runnine nnco round in 2m 3Hs, the last mile in lm 47is. Oemorne put in a slashing mile in lm 48JjS, giving Right Honorable the p> hv. Talavera, nn the tan, negotiated n mile in lm 475. Newhaven, assisted by Hindoo and Toreador, covered a couple of rounds, the first oooupying 2m 35Js, and tho second occupying half a second longer. Survivor finished a lengrh in front of Sabretnohe over a mile, in lm 525. Delaware had a decided call ovnr Oharire in once round, run in 2m 38s. Old Clo defeated True Blue over a mile, in lm 48}n. Reka (showing lameness), Wahine, and a number of others did strong work.

THE BETTING MARKET. A fair amount of betting has been transacted on the Doncaster Handioap. Vanitas is very firm at 7 to 1 (offereil), at which price about £1000 was placed against his name. Reka, owing to unfavourable reports regarding his condition, has receded to 10 to 1. flremorne is in strong demand at the same figure. Adoration is at 100 to 7. For the Sydney Clip Battalion has hardened, and closed equal favourite with Tom at Bto j. Coil and Resolute divided second place nt 10 to 1.
