In addition to two roundsof (/'up matches no less than sis important representative matches were played in Auckland, and a team was also despatched to Northern Wairoa. Probably the most noteworthy event of the year win Hie advent of the Queensland team, which visited the colony for the Brat time, coming of course under the auspices of the New Zealand Rugby Union. The match between Queensland and Auckland resulted in a win for the local players after an interesting came. Three inter-provincial matches wero played against Wellington, Tar.uiaki, and Utigo respectively, hut in each case the visitors proved too stroiu for our representatives. The annual contests with Thames Tanruiga, and Northern Wairna took place as usual, each of these beinii won by Auckland. The Cup competitions were oven more closely fought than in the previous year, null were followed with groat public interest. The Senior Championship matches lasted until well into October. Newton, City, and Parnell were equal for lint place at the end of the «econd round, and the two former ulayed a draw in the first match of the play-off. It was then considered inadvisable to further prolong the season, as the ground was getting too hull for safety, and the Committee decided ti bracket the tin clubs as equal. It will give an idoa how closely they were matched, when it is noted that each team beat the others once anil was beaten by them once, while'none of them lost to any of the other clubs taking part In the competition. Ponsonhy district was oven stronger than usual in junior players, anil carried oft both the First and Second Junior Championships. Tho Committee have again to acknowledge the valuable services of members of the Referees' Association, who officiated during the season, including those of .Messrs. Symes, Oarmnl, anil Campbell, the referees appointed by the New Zealand Rugby Union, for the principal matches The thanks of tho Union are al-o duo to Mr. Neil .McLean for his services as deleeale to the New Zealand Rugby Union. The contests of the Auckland Colleges Union resulted in the Auckland Collets and. Grammar School winning both the First and Second Championshius, Caps were presented to the winners in each case by the Auckland Rugby Union. It has been decided to offer c ips for competition by the different Public School teams during tho forthcoming season, with a. view to promoting the came amongst the boys, to whom we have to look for our playeri in the future.

After the Chairman had briefly reviewed the operations of the past seasou, and urged upon the Union the necessity for better combination amongst players, advising the substitution of one man in place of three to select representative teams, the report was, on the motion ol Mr. Kissling, seconded by Mr. Hesketh, unanimously adopted. MacCormick), showed receipts £1740 9s 9d, and expenditure £1135 15s, leaving; a balance in hand of £604 14s 9d. Taking from this the balance brought forward from the previous year (£33 5a 3.1), the season shows a profit of £5719s Gd. £500 will be paid to the ground trust fund, which, added to the £800 12s 6d already holil by the trustees, will raise the fund to £1300 12s 8(1, and then leave the substantial sum of £104 143 9d in hand to commence the new season with.
