A meeting of the Epsom School Committee was held last night for the purpose of .electing , teacher in the place of Mr Mclntosh, who had been appointed to the Onehunga School. After reading the testimomals of the various candidates the names were reduced by ballot, the third ballot rental* as follows s Ohlsen 6. Thwa.tes o, Burton 3. The two highest i« submitted to a final ballot, resuiting: Thwaites 4, Ohlsen 3. Mr. Tnwaites was declared duly elected. It was then moved, « That the Epsom School Mi Mclntoeh'. resignation of his position as headmaster of the Epsem School, desire to place on record their high appreciation ot the services rendered to this district by nim in his capacity as headmaster from the opening of the school some eleven years Put until the present time; also of the nigh reputation the school has acquired and the excellent results in scholarship aucceeses and in the. marked advance by the childreD id educational matters generally."
