SUICIDE NEAR HELENSVILLE.

A storekeeper named Alex. McDonald, carrying on business ab Waimauku, committed suicide on Sunday evening, by taking strychnine. It appears from the information to band that the unfortunate man had been drinking. No one, it appears, saw him take the strychnino. On bis tolling his wife, and a gumdigger who was by at the time, what he had done, the usual remedies were at once applied, and every means taken to stay tho fatal effects of the poison, bub without avail. Deceased leaves a wife and fivo children in very poor circumstances, if not quite unprovided for. An inquest will be held.—[Helensville Correspondent.]
