AQUATICS.

AUCKLAND ROWING CLUB. The pair-oar races in connection with the abovo club, which were to have taken place on Saturday last, were indefinitely postponed, after the first heat had taken place, on account of a rigger of one of tho boats breaking. The first heat was between cro\ya stroked by Buttery and Uardie, and resulted in a win for the former crew by about two lengths after a very good race. Later on in the afternoon a race was arranged between Patterson and Dean in stump outriggers; the former conceding 15s. over a mile course. The race resulted iu an easy win for Dean.

LADIES' WHALEBOAT RACE. The ladies' whaleboat race, which was to have been held at the Auckland Annual Regatta, on January 29 last, and which was postponed owing to the rough weather, etc., is now being arranged to como off either on Easter Saturday or Monday, probably the former. It will be remembered the race was put on the programme under the understanding that a crew of WaiUra Indies would compete. Owing to some hitch in their arrangements these young ladies subsequently found they wero unable to come up at that date, and on its being intimated to the committee that they would most probably be able to visit Auckland in April the race was further postponed until that time. Information has now been received that the Tarauaki ladies are to leave New Plymouth per s.s. Gairloch on Tuesday, and will arrive on Wednesday uext. Their opponents will be a crew from Waitemata-City, who will be very fairly representative of the strength of our young lady rowers of Auckland. Great interest no doubt will be taken in the event both by lovers of aquatics and the general public, as it will be the first interproviucial ladies' rowing match held in the colony. Full particulars as to date and location of the race will be duly advertised in the course of the next day or so.
