Loed Hopetoun, wiio presided at the annual meeting of the Naval Architects Association, expressed a hope that a plan would be devised tor the conversion of the old pattern ironclads into vessels of the latest standard. London, April 9. At the Naval Architects' meeting, Lord Charles Beresford stated that it was possible to convert seventeen of the older cruisers, and to render them effective as lrlddern Warships at a cost equalling the amount required for the construction of a battleship and a cruise , ! , .
