AUCKLAND. MESSRS. HUNTIR AND NOLAN'S WEEKLY REPORT.

HORSEFEED, grain, seeds: Maize has been brought forward in limited quantities, and has consequently advanced in value. Other requisites of the trade have been ample for requirements. We quote: Maize on wharf, 2s Sd bushel in trade lots, ex store, 2s 10d to 2s lid; feed oats, 2s 6d; seed oats, 2s 8d to 2a 9d; oaten chaff, plentiful, from £2 5s to £215s ton, prices ruled by quality and extent of line disposed of; bran, £3 15s to £4 ton : grass and clover seed in fair demand; cocksfoot from 5a 10d' to 7s 6d bushel; Poverty Bay ryegrass, 5s to 6s 6d; Southern, 43 6d; local, 3s 6d to 4s.

Horses have continued to be brought forward in large numbers and for those of a good stamp there has been a good demand at the previous week's values. A good many were submitted by auction on Friday, and competition was good throughout the sale. Cattle: There has been a slight upward tendency in the value of stores, but no alteration in dairy or fat stock. Averace numbers were brought forward. The Newmarket yards were moderately filled on Tuesday, and there was a large muster at Papakura on Wednesday, and competition brisk. Wo quote: Ox beef, 16s to 17s 1001b; cow, 15s; steers ranged from £5 Ids to £8; fat cows, £312s 6d to £5 7s 6d; springers, £310s to £5 7s Cd; dry cows, £1 10s to £3; calves and yearlings, from 18s to £1 7s 6d; 2-year-old steers, £2 123 6d to £2 17s Gd; 3-year-old steers, £3 5s to £3 12s 6d; grown steers, £4 2s 6d to £5 ss.

Slieop were penned in limited numbers at Newmarket on Tuesday, but there was no advance in value; wethers sold at. from 8s 6d to 11s U ; ewes,7s9d to 10s 3d ; mixed sexes, 8s 6(1 to 10s 6d; lambs, 5s 9d to 8s 6d ; store ewes,fis3dtoes6d. Pigs in moderate numbers. Medium to heavy weights sold at from £1 2s to £'2; weauers, 7s 3d to 8s 6d.

At the Haymarket, meadow hay has brought from Is 6d to 3s 9d ; oaten sheaves, 2a to 2s 9d ; pressed hay, 3s 6d; chaff, 3s 3d; bran, 3s 61I; sharps, 4s owt; oats, Iβ 10d to 2* 6d ; maize, 2s 10d ; rye grass, 33 to 4a 6d ; Poverty Buy rye grass, u's; cocksfoot, 7s 0d bushel; white clover, 10d ; cow-grass, 8>1; alsyke, 8(1 lb; guano, £3 lOj, bonedust, £5 10a to £6 10a ton.

Competition was good, and prices ruled on a par with late rates, except cow hides, which ruled higher. Hair, horns, bones, etc., at full prices. Oats: Market slightly firmer, aud more business passing. Quotations :2s 2d (Standard A) end 2s ljd (Standard B), c.i.f; Potatoes: Southern consignments are arriving in poor condition, and purchases are for immediate consumption only. Quotations : £4 6s to £4 10s, delivered into store. Onions: The market is well supplied. Quotation: £5 per ton. Bonedust, £510s; blood and boue manure, £5 per ton. Grass seed: Business during the past week has beeu good.

STRATFORD, OKAIAWA, AND HAWBRA.

The Egmont Farmers' Union (Limited), Hawera, reports on April I:—At our Stratford sale, on the 26ch nit., we had an excessively large entry of cattle, so much so that our own yarding accommodation was insufficient, and we had to make use of some of Mr. Nowton King's yards. The attendance was good, and bidding fairly brisk, so that a large number of the lines entered changed hands. We quote: 2to 2J-year steers, £215s to £3; Hto 2-year steers, £1 16s to £2 12s 6d; yearlings, mixed sexes, HI 5s to £1 10s; fat and forward cows, £21756 d to £3 1031 dairy cows, £3 tn £4 ss; dairy heifers, £1 17a 6d to £2 7s 6d; weaners, Us to 19s. We held an unreserved clearing salo on behalf of Mr. James Nicolson on his farm at Okaiawa on the 29th Jilt. The dairy cows and heifers were a good line, and sold well, as did all other sundries. We quote: Dairy cows and heifers, £3 to £7 10s; horses, £8 to £11 10s. Although we had a large entry of cattle at our Hawera Saleyards on Wednesday, the 31st ult., and a large number attended the sale, the bidding was the dullest that we have had for a long time, so that n number ot the cattle returned home uneold. JOHNSONVILLB. Messrs. Freeman R. Jackson and Co.' (Johnsouville) stook report:—The bullocks for the sale, to-day, were good quality and fair weight. The market was rather dull for beef. Sheep improved slightly in value, and pigs were well competed for. Cattle: Best bullocks, £6 5s to £617s (id; others, £5 16s to £6, equal to 14s the 1001b.
