VOLUNTEER INTELLIGENCE.

COMPETITION FOR THE DISTRICT BELT. Tub first competition for the District Belt took place at the Mount Kden Rifle Range, on Saturday, the 27th instant, and Saturday, 3rd inst., in good weather. This trophy was the gift of Dr. J. L. Campbell. The conditions wore: Seven shots each at (101), 400, 500, and 000 yards, with the customary two lighters at each distance; restricted to efficient volunteers ; Government Martini-Henry rifles as issued to corps; ammunition colonial manufacture, as issued to corps for service; the bolt to be won three times before becoming the property of the winner. Quartermaster-Ser-geant ICoarsley conducted. The winner proved to bo Sergeant Sherson, "A" Battery. There wore 24 entries. Subjoined are the scores of those who competed :—
