THE ROAD TO STRATFORD.

Wellinuton, Wednesday, The Survoyor-General has returned to Wellington from an inspection of the coach road now being made between Stratford and the mouth of tho Poro-o tarao tunnel, on tho North Island Main Trunk Railway. The road, which is being worked on the co operative principle, has been formed for a distance of nearly 80 miles, and about 44 miles yet require to be done to oomplete ib. The men, who are making good progress, number 70, and the Surveyor-General expresses himself pleased with tho way in which the work is being done. Until the road is takon up to tho tunnel, a regular railway service will not bo initiated. At pre Ant tho train only runs as far as the ond of tho lino whenever provisions and materials are required for the camp.
