STATEMENT BY MR CHAMBERLAIN.

London, March 29. Mr. states that the now rules for governing Norfolk Island applied to the keeping of alcohol, Under the existing law the importation of spirituous liquors, excepting for medicinal purposes, is absolutely prohibited, and there was no reason, he added, to suppose the sale of liquor was intended under the new rules.
