f,AROE as was the attendance at the Opera House on Monday evening, when Mr. Geo. Rignold and his company produced the "Lights o' London," the attendance was oven greater last night when the drama was repeated. In all the popular parts of the House there was a " pack," while orchestra stalls and circle were almost as crowded. And there could be no doubt as to the success, for the reception accorded not only to the piece bub the players evidenced increasing interesb. Mr. G. Rignold's Harold Armytage just suited the audience, he played the part so artistically and well. Miss Kmilie Hughes scored afresh as Bess Marks, hor clever acting affording fresh proof of her versatility. She made the parb her own. The delightful Jarvis family added just the comedy needed to balance the heavier situations. The staging called forth round after round of applause, particularly the Regent's Park canal scene where Harold (Mr. Rignold) dives into a huge tank; by far this is the best scene of its kind given in Auckland. During the overture Mr. Marcus sang the " Lights o' London Town" most effectively. The piece will he reproduced this evening.

The house steward of the District Hospital desires through our columns to thank Mr. Les's, of Avgyle - street, Ponsonby, and a friend per E. Porter and Co., for bundles of illustrated and other papers, and Rev. Canon NeLon for some grapes for use of the patients. Mef 3rs. Hunter and Nolan hold a special sale of sheep at the Junction yards to-day. Upwards of 3000 sheep and ram 3 will be yarded. The Committee of tho Auckland Swimming Club have abandoned the gala which was to have been nekl this evening. This course has been decided upon owing to the small number of entries and the coldness of the water. The annual special service of St. Matthew's Branch of the Church of England Temperance Society will be held on Thursday evening in St. Matthew's Church. Special hymns will be sung, and Archdeacon Dudley will preach a temperance sermon.
