Wellington, Friday. A lad named-Wateau, a-jed 15, was bathing in Kaiwarra stream this morning and dived in a pool, when ho sbunned himself, and was drowned before he could be rescued. A pitiful feature of the case is that the lad's parents aro away holidaymaking, and cannot be found. Christchukch, Friday. A man named Ernest Phillips was killed ab Cheviot last evening through a waggon be was driving falling over a cutting. Dpnedin, Friday. Felix For, a settler on Hawora Flat, was drowned this morning while crossing the Upper Clutha River with cattle. Westport, Friday. A coal miner named William Geddes was severely injured by a fall of stono in the Iron Bridge section of the Coalbrookdale mine, Denniston, last night. An iron prop used to keep the root up broke, and a large , quantity of stone fell on the unfortunate man, who sufFored internal injuries. The spine is also injured. His mate was occupied for an hour in digging Geddes out.
