Per Northern Chief, from Newcastle: 400 tons coal. The Union Company's steamer Flora, Captain John Bernech, arrived from Southern and East Coast ports at.12.15 a.m. to-day. Mr. Isaac, the purser, reports that the steamer left Dunedin on the 18th instant at 4.30 p.m., and called at Lvttelton on the 19th. Wellington 011 the 20th, Napier andGisborne *n the 22nd, leaving the latter port at 9.30 (he same day and arriving as above. The Flora leaves at noon to-morrow for East Coast and Southern ports. The Union Company's steamer Dingadee, Captain J. S. Adams, arrived from Wellington and East Coast ports at 1,30 a.m. to-day, Mr. H. E. Watts, the purser, reports that the steamer left Wellington at 6 a.m. ou the 18th instant, Napier 011 the 19tli, and Gig. borne on the 20th. Called at Tologa Bay, Waipare, Tokomaru Bay, Waipiro Bay, Akuaku, Tuparoa, Port Awanui, Hicks' Bay, Te Kaha, and Oreti Point, and left the latter place at midnight on the 22nd, arriving as above. The Dingadee leaves for the East Coast and Wellington this evening. The steamer Stella arrived from Whangarei and Maugawai yesterday with a large raft of lops. Yesterday the Northern Company's steamer Chelmsford arrived from Whakatane *nd Tauranga, and left for the latter port igain in the evening. The Northern Company's steamer Douglas arrived from Whangarei with a cargo of coal yesterday morning and left for the same place again in the evening. Yesterday morning the barque Northern Chief arrived from Newcastle alter a passage of fifteen days. The Northern Company's steamer Wellington left for Whangarei last night. Last night the Northern Company's steamer lona left for Keunedy's Bay, Kuao- ■ tunu, and Mercury Bay. The barque Silverstream took on board yesterday tor London a large number of bales of wool and casks of tallow. The Northern Steamship Company have changed the name of their steamer Banks Peninsula to that of Waitangi, and from this date she will be known by that name. THE TASMANIA. The Hucldart-Parker steamer Tasmania left Sydney for this port last evening, and should arrive late on Sunday night or early ou Monday morning next. SHIPPING SUMMARY. Business in shipping circles has been extremely brisk during the past month, and the tonnage in and out of the port lias boen large. On November 30 the Colonial Sugar Refining Co.'s steamer Fiona arrived from Fiji, with ft cargo of raw sugar, and left for Queensland on the 2nd inst,, with a large consignment of numico. The Tyser Liner Star of New Zealand arrived from London, via Australian ports, on the Ist inst., and is now in the South, loading for London. On the 2nd the barque Silverstreain arrived from Algoa Kay, and is now loading for Loudon, under the auspices of the New Zealand Shipping Company. The Northern Company's new paddle steamer \\ akatere arrived from Glasgow and way ports on the 3rd inst., and has taken up her running in the Thames trade. On the 4th tho Union Company's mail steamer Mnnowai arrived from San Francisco, Honolulu, and Apia, with the English and American mails. H..M. surveying ship Penguin arrived from Fiji the same date, after surveying in that group for some months. The ship proceeded to Hobart on the 7th, and has since arrived at that port, where she will remain over the holidays with tho rest of the squadron. The Union Company's steamer Upolu left for Fiji on the 4tn, and returned on the 20th. On the sth the Union Company's steamer Taupo left for the Eastern Pacific, and is due baok early next week. On the Bth the barque Clan MacLeod arrived from New York, via Wellington, with general cargo. anil is now loading kauri gum and flax for New York. After taking in a quantity of wool, kauri gum, etc., the New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer Rakaia left for the South on the 12th inst., to complete her loading for London. On the 10th inst. the Union Company's steamer Ov.ilau arrived from the Islands, with a cargo of raw sugar and fruit, and left again for the same ports on the Ifith. The Union Company's steamer Pukaki arrived from Fiji on the 18th, with raw sugar, etc. On the 19th the Kauri Timber Company's brig Vision arrived from Newcastle with a cargo of coal. The German warship Hussard arrived from Samoa oil the 21st, and remains in port for some weeks, during which time she will be docked and overhauled. The barquentine Handa Isle arrived the same day from Wollongong with a cargo of coal. The schooner ! Clansman, from Sydney, arrived on the 21st j with ft cargo of bonedimt and manure, The \ barquentine Silver Cloud arrived from Newcastle on the 22m1. Tho Shaw, Savill, ami Albion Company's steamer Pakeha is due from Loudon and way ports on Monday next, The American barque Alice, which took ill a part cargo of flax at this port for Boston and proceeded to Wellington to complete her loading, caught fire while at the latter port, and suffered considerable damage. The whole of her cargo of flux will have to be discharged, being saturated with the water pumped into the vessel,
