SUDDEN DEATH OF MR. H. S MYERS.
On Saturday afternoon, between the hoars of three and four o'clock, Mr. H. 8. Myers, who was boarding at" the'lmperial Hotel, died somewhat suddenly ab that hotel. ■ lb appear that deceased, who was ;ft ; wan ot some' fifty'years of, age, anil associated with mining matters, was about «' usual during the forenoon;, and made no com-' plaint as to his health, nor appeared to be suffering, from any ailment. • About one o'olook. he returned to the hotel,"ate a hearty meal, talked.aud.laughod with thqse around him, and afterwards, as was often the. case, retired to the smoking-room, it being a constant habit of his to lake an.afternoon nap. Ho was seen asleep on the couch by tho porter shortly after two o'olook, who at 3.30, when going out for a walk, just' casually looked into the smoking-room, and noticing the paleness of deceased; walked over to tho couch and found him (load, Ho sent for Dr. Mockellar, who was soon on the sceno, but could only pronounce life to be oxtiiiQt. The police were notified, and they removed tho bsdy to the morgue', to await a ooronor's inquest, which will be (laid this forenoon-, at, 10. o'clock, by Dr. Philson, coroner. A post mortem will be held on the body. Doceased was a brother-in-law of Mr. Gabriel Lewis, auctioneer, and Mr. Edward Lewis, of A. H, Nathan and Co., and had been back in Auckland from Sydney on mining matters. He leoyos a grown up family in Sydney, the youngest boiug about 13. His wife'and the eldest daughter are dead, all, including himself, died within the last 18 months. The former was a sister of Messrs, Gabriel and Edward Lewis. Twenty-five or 30 years ago deceased was a prominent wine and spirit and genoral merchant in Auckland. Decoased had been away for many yoars past (with the exception of a flying visit) and twice in Coolgardie. He appeared to enjoy good health, and his sudden decease oatne as a sad surprise upon his friends in this "pity,
