♦ Mr. Richard Arthur's Weekly Report.— Business during the week has been very brisk. Properties in the city sold at good prices, bidding being spirited. Furniture in private houses sold at nigh prices. Potatoes very scarce, lines selling as high as £5 10s. New potatoes: Large supply; all lines cleared at following prices :—Kidneys, Id to ljd; Shepherd and others, Jd to Id. Onions still scarce, 2|d to 3d lb; red and white carrots,£l to £110s ton; mangolds slow of sale, 15s ton. Southern aud local bacon in good demand. New cheese, steady sale. Honey moving slowly. Fresh butter; Large supply; corned butter wanted. Fresh eggs wanted; good demand. Poultry: Heavy supply: prices good, roosters selling from 2s 2d to 2s lid each; yard fowls, Is 6d to 2s each; others, Is 3d to Is fid each; chicks, oil to Is 2d: ducks, Is fid to Is lOd; ducklings, 5d to Is ; geese, 3s to 3s lOd; turkeys wanted. Small pigs, 7s 3d to 9s fid. Fresh eggs, 7j(d to BJd. Fresh butter, first quality 5a to o|d, second 3d to 4Jd; corned butter, 5d to 6Jd. New cheese, 3£d to 4d; old, 2d to 3d. Southern bacon, fijd to 7d; hams, 7Jd to 8d; local bacon, 4d to (id; hams, fid to 7d. Vegetables sold well. Fruit: Gooseberries, 3d to 3|d; Cape gooseberries, 4£<l; loquats, 2d to 3Jd ll>; lemons, 63 to (is lOd case, and 2s fid to 33 3d small cases, and 7d to 9d doz. Grain: Wheat, 3s 7d; maize, 2s 9d to 2s lid: oats, 2s oil: bran, 3s 3d to 33 fid; sharps, 3s fid to 3s 9d.
