The Bank of New South Wales hal received the announcement, of the death of Mr, Donald Larnaob, London chairman of the Board of Directors.

Messrs. Meek and Short have been elected directors of the Australian Mutual Provident Society.
THE NEWCASTLE COAL STRIKE.
Sydney, May 14.
Coal miners are jubilant over the success of the negotiations leading to the opening of the New Lambton and Dudley mines.
In the House Mr. Haynes gave notice of motion, "That tho House vote a sum o! £30,000 for the purpose of securing to miners proprietorial rights in one or more mines, as a means of preventing disputes." Mr. Haynes had previously written to the Premier, suggesting the purchase of a mine right out for miners, or the investment of money on their behalf in ft going concern. The Premier replied that he would remain neutral, but would give every facility for the discussion of the motion, Later.
As a result of the conference between the miners and owners in the Southern coal district!, the latter have decided to arrant the men a fourth c { extra profits accruing from the increased demand for coal consequent on the Newcastle strike.
