Fires hive been of very frequent occurrence in Mastorton of late, several large conflagrations taking place within a few days. The handsome clock of buildings opposite the post office occupied by the Wairatapa Star and several shops was completely destroyed, but are now being reinstated. The old brewery buildings, opposite the Royal Hotel, were also destroyed by the fire-raiser, and was to have been occupied by a firm of brewers from Marlborough very shortly. The insurances upon the Star buildings was £700, and the old brewery £400. Besides the two fires named above, several smaller properties in the borough were destroyed, and in each case the origin remains a mystery.— [Own Correspondent.] For evening dress Shirts, collars, ties, gloves, etc., latest shapes and styles, try J, W.
