Owing to the continued easterly gale, shipping busness at the wharves was greatly interfered with yesterday, and alterations in the movements of several of the coastal Steamers have had to be made. The smart schooner Waiapu, Captain Mat tin, arrived from Gisborne last evening. The master reports sailing from Gisborne on Monday night, and rounded the East Cape on Tuesday morning. Strong easterly winds prevailed throughout the trip. Cargo: 25 sacks grass seed, 40 empty casks, andsundries. The schooner loads up for East Coast Ports at once. Yesterday afternoon the Union Company s Steamer Waihora left for Sydney. The departure of the Union Company s Steamer Te Kapo, for the Bluff has been postponed until tomorrow evening. Captain A. Martin, of the schooner TVaiapu, reports that the schooner Aotea, from Auckland to Gisborne, was windbound at Cape Runaway, and the scow Eclipse, from Mercury Bay to Oamaru, at Kawakawa, en Tuesday last. The local agents, Messrs. L. L). Nathan and Co., inform us that commencing with next month, the Vancouvei mail steamers will leave Sydney on the 12th ot each month, instead of the Ist as at present. On Thursday last the s.s. Richmond passed a steamer about 740 miles from Rarotonga, which would probably be the Union Company's steamer Taupo. The steamer would make Rarotonga on Monday morning last. Yesterday the barquentine Jasper arrived at Lyttelton from Newcastle. The barque Commerzienrath Rodbertns was floated out of the Auckland Dock yesterday. She will sail for Lauucestou shortly under the charge of Captain Millman, chief officer of the s.s. Mahinapua. Yesterday the Northern Company's steamer Wellington was floated into the Auckland Dook for cleaning and painting. The Shaw, Savill, and Albion Company a Steamer Tainui leaves Lyttelton for London on the 28th inst. Auckland passengers and cargo should leave by the Tasmania from Auckland next week, or by the Takapuna from Onehunga on the 25th inst. The schooner Torea left Rarotonga for a cruise through the group on April 28. Yesterday the Union Company's steamer Takapuna left Wellington for Lyttelton. She leaves Wellington again to-night, and arrives at Onehunga early on Saturday morning, with the Southern portion of the English and American mails for transmission by the Alameda. _

THE RICHMOND. Yesterday afternoon Messrs. Donald and Eden borough's steamer Richmond arrived from the Islands, with a cargo of copra, fruit, nearlshell, etc. The Richmond reached Rarotonga from this port on April 20, and after calling at Raiatea, arrived at Papeete on the 29th. Left again on the Ist met, and took iu a quantity of copra at Raiatea. Left Karotonga for Auckland at 3.30 p.m. on the sth, and arrived in harbour at 12.$ p.m. yesterday. Moderate weather was experienced on the trip down and throughout the Islands. On the return strip strong easterly winds prevailed, which gradually increased to a heavy gale on Sunday, which continued until making port. The gale was accompanied by fierce rain squalls and very heavy seas, and a good deal of water was shipped, but without doing any damage. The weather was so bad that when the Great Barrier was made on Tuesday night, Captain Huttou deemed it prudent to heave the steamer to until daylight yesterday, when she came on her way, making the harbour as above. The Richmond leaves for Rarotonga and Tahiti again to-morrow evening.

She left Wellington on the 10th, called at Nelson and laranaki, and loft the latter port at 10.15 p.m. on the 12th, arriving as above, The Northern Company's steamer Gutrlech arrived at 1 p.m. yesterday, from New Plymouth, with passengers, 74 head cattle, 1 racehorse, 60 boxes butter, and sundries.
