MARTIN REMANDED.
At the Police Court yesterday Harry Vincent Martin was charged before Messrs. A. Clements and J. Callnan that he did on May wound with intenb to bodily harm one Edith Ellen Williams.
Mr. Brassey appeared tor the accused. Sergeant MoMabon said he would ask for a remand for eight days. Mr. Brassey then applied for bail. Ho said that his client was cleaning his revolver at the time, and tho affair would be found to have been an accident. The party struck was quite unknown to him, and he had no intention whatever of harming her. In tact, he said, there was no motive at all. The sergeant said he must oppose Mr. Brassey'B request. The police bad no reason to believe it was an accident, and the girl was still in bed. Mr. Brassey replied he could bring evidence to prove that the accused had been a respectable oitizen for years past. The Bench said the remand was for such a short time that they did not think thoy could grant the solicitor's request. The accused was thon remanded till the 18th instant. If the girl recovered sufficiently in the meantime, the sergeant said, the case would come 011 sooner.
