MANGAPAI RIDING FARMERS ASSOCIATION.

The atinuul meeting of this Association was hold at the Hall, Maungakaramea, on the 28th ult., with a good attendance of members, Mr. B. Orraandy in the chair. Inward correspondence read from the Waipu Association, also from the Acclimatisation Society, slating that their prize of £2 2a is only given when the collection of hawks' lionds numbers over 50, and there must be competition. Anything under this, only the usual reward of 3d per head can be given. The outward correspondence was a circular letter to the several kindred societies in the North, asking for a better organisation in important questions that may be pressing at any time, especially, as at present, those of our roads. The secretary reported as follows Gentlemen,—lt is with pleasure that I am enabled to make a favourable report to the Association, also a balance-sheet of receipts and expenditure incurred at our recont show. Your committee certainly have not a credit balance of any consequence, but having been in the position to satisfy all claims in full is a good causo for congratulation; and as it is our first attempt in organising an exhibition of this kind, an allowance should be made for errors and omissions, while the experience acquired will probably be taken every advantage of in the future, Wo have at present a roll numbering 56 members, which should be increased before the next show, as by our rules and regulations every facility is given to members as exhibitors. Since the formation of this Association on the 2nd November last year your committeo have held eleven meetings. Tlio exhibits in the paddock numbered 232, in the hail 272 ; extra exhibits, 7. The uumbor of prizes paid in full was 289. The balance in hand amounts to £1 4s 3d. The receipts comprise : Members' subscription, £14; entries, £29 16s 3d ; gates, £16 15s 6d ; concert, £5 ! 18s 6d; booth, £3 10s ; donations (cash and value), £24 13s 6d. The expenditure in eludes: Prizes, £59 6s, and expenses, £34 2s 6d. This was examined and found correct by the auditors, Messrs. 11. Plummor and J. G, Miller, The election of officers for the ensuing year was proceeded with, the result being: President, Captain Wintlo; vice-presidents, Messrs, PostleUiwaite, J. Rownbree, and W. Crawford ; the general committee, Messrs. Sloane, sen., Cunningham, McAKster, W. J. Harrison, (i. McCullough, A. Weir, J. Graham, D. Cole, D. Miller, C. Wintle, W. Lee, W. Bennett, W. Thompson, J. Carter, T. ('-'Carroll, F. O'Carroll, W. Hunter, 3. C. Miller, J. G. Miller, H. Swaffield. M. Rowntree, H. Neville, Jan., F. Hilford, *wl A, Stephens, juti.; treasurer, Mr. J. Bui'ey; secretary, Mr. J. L. Clarke; auditors, Messrs. Howard and Marsden. The members present heartily accorded their best i hanks to those who so generously contributed prizes to the recent show, also to the retiring officers. The seerotary was instructed to communicate with the three Koad Boards, namely, Waikiskie, Ruarangi, and Maungakaramea, asking them to make a summary of the proposed Local Government Bill, and report "thereon, and, if they considered it so advisable, to meet the Association in about a month hence, at the Mangapai Hall, when some' united action may be taken in this momentous question. It was then unanimously decided to hold the show next year at Mangapai. lb was decided without dissent to affiliate with the Auckland Provincial (cultural Association. An addition was made to the bylaws, to the effect that a small executive committee of five members be appointed to carry out the details and minor business of oho show. A eub-cotnmittoe was appointed to report to the general committee as to the most suitable ground for the yards, etc., in Mangapai, The secretary was instructed to call a meeting in about a month hence to consider the dote of next show, to appoint an executive, to recoive the report of the sub-committee as to the best ground for yards, etc., also to meet the delegates from the three Road Boards.-[Own Correspond dwit.] -
