I'ONSONJIY NAVAL ARTILLERY. The final competition for the handsomo medal presented by Mr. Teutonberg took place on Mount Eden rango on Saturday afternoon. The conditions for this match were: 200 yds, knotting position ; 300 yds and 500 yds, any position; seven shots at each rango. It will bo romembored that J. and G. E. Spinley wore a tie in the first match, and their shooting was closely watched on Saturday last. At the conclusion of the 300 yds range, these two brothers had drawn ahead of the other competitors, 0.P.0. J. Splnley having a load of two points from George, and at 500 yds got a three and four for his sightors, ana decided to cross out oho three and count the four, which he fallowed up with another inner. He then slipped one away for an outor, following up with an inner, and a bull's-oye. Ho then had the mis-, fortune to finish with two magpies, making his total 25 for that range. Petty-officer G. Spinley then required 27 points to tie, or 28 to win, and as the light was getting very bad his shooting was watched with great interest. His first shot was registered t an inner, being followed up with a magpie, both of which this marksman decided to reject. In starting his counters, his first Whs a bull's eye, and his hits were in the following 0rder—5435554, making his total 31, thus winning the medal by four points amidst loud applauso. The shooting was carried out under the New Zealand Rifle Association rules, and not a single complaint was heard about the ammunition. It may be said that tho leading competitors say it is the best ammunition they over used. It was manufactured by the Colonial Ammunition Company, dated 1896. Tho following are the scores :—
