THAMES BOROUGH COUNCIL.
APPOINTMENT OP TOWN CLERK. [by telegraph.— correspondent.] Thames, Thursday. Tub appointment of a town clerk came up for consideration at the Borough Council meeting this evening, for which position sixteen applications were received. Eight of those came from Auckland, one each from Parnell, Newmarket, Onehunga, and Kihikilii, and four local applicntions, these were eventually reduced down to a oontest between Messrs. Albert Bruce and James Kernick (the present acting town-clerk), but ihf final ballot eventually gave the formor gentleman seven votes and the latter three. Upon the motion of the Mayor, seconded by Mr. Davey, Mr. Bruce was appointed to the position.
