Beasley occupied the chair. The Chairman of the outgoing committee informed the meeting that he had forwarded the accounts to the auditor iu the usual way, and they had not yet been returned. The outgoing chairman's report was read and adopted. The new committee was elected as follow Messrs. R. M. Peace, H. Morey, K. Stewart, S. W. Downard, F. Downard, J. Beasley, and J. Beasley, juu. Papakura Valley.— the annual meeting of householders a motion was proposed and carded unanimously to the effect that the Education Board be again asked to build a new school to provide for the children at the westerly end of the district, the building which is at present used being overcrowded, and being a rery old structure it is at the beat of times very uncomfortable. It is also the opinion of many oi the householders that the two schools are much too close together._ There was an idea advanced at the meeting which might be worth consideration in Beating this vexed school question, viz., to move No. 1 school building to somewhere about the church hill and open a small school at Brookby. This would provide for the whole district, and place practically all the children and all the homesteads within reasonable distance of a school.—[Own Correspondent.] TowAt.—At the annual mertingof householders, Mr. Holland occupied the chair. The chairman of the outgoing committee (Mr. Brown) informed the meeting he hail forwarded a report to the Board of Education, hut had only a verbal one to give the meeting. Some angry discussion tlieu took place. The following were elected the Dew committee:—Messrs.' M. O'Donouehue, R. W. Browne, A. J. Holland, R. Marshall, Wm. Osbourne, A. Ferguson, and John R. Lambert. Subsequently Mr. Browne was appointed chairman, Mr, Osbourne secretary, and Mr. Marshall treasurer.—[Own Correspondent.] Whananaki.—As the annual meeting of householders the new committee elected are : -Messrs. Thos. H. W. Morris, F. W. Machin, J. G. Grassick. J. Hamilton, W. Lee, B. Staples, and R. Murray. Subsequently Mr. T. H. W. Morris was elected chairman, and Mr. F. W. Mackin hon. secretary .-[Own Correspondent.) Dabgaville.—At the annual meeting of householders a great deal ot discussion took place, the chair being occupied by Mr. N. A. McLeod. The poll resulted as follows :— Messrs. Vail 49, Gould 49, Barstow 46, Nairn 44, Cook 43, Day 30, Mills 20, Dell 18, Frost 15, Dunars. The first seven were elected. Subsequently Mr. Barstow was elected chairman.—[Northern Wairoa Correspondent.] Maijurangi Heads.—at the annual meeting of householders Mr. J. Suell was elected to the chair. The abstract of the school fuud accounts showod a balance in bank on March 31, 1895, of £34 12s 8d ; grants for ordinary incidental purposes, £15155: total, £7>o 7s Bd. Expenditure Cleaning schools and outbuildings, £6 16s 6d; repairs to buildings and fences, £3 His; stationery, £3 3s 7d ; balance in Union Bank March 31, 1896, £36 14s 7d: total, £50 7» Hi. The report and accounts were adopted. After the poll had been taken, the following names were declared duly elected:—Messrs. Alexander Algie, Richard Goldßworthy, James Lawrie, Henry Mason, Edward Morgan, Angus D. Grant, and James Snell. Subsequently Mr. A. Algie was elected chairman.—[Own Correspondent.]
