It is reported that Buluwayo is completely surrounded, and that the food supplies there will scarcely last a fort* night. ... Capetown, April 21. Two thousand Boers are within twenty-five miles of Mafeking. Their object is ostensibly to prevent the spread of rinderpest, but they are really preparing for emergency in ease the rising among the natives becomes general. Major Carrington sails from London for Capetown on Saturday. The rebels are raiding cattle close to Buluwayo. Several sharp skirmishes have taken place, but the laager so far is impregnable. What is most feared is treachery frcm within.
