A match between the Papakura Valley and the Mangere Cricket Club was played on the Mangere ground on April 18, Papakura Valley winning on the first inning by 33 runs. The annual meeting of the Kopuru Football Club was held in the Kopuru Library on the 9th inst., Mr. T. Elliott in the chair. The balance-sheet showed some arrears of payments due to the club, and a credit balance of 19s Gil. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—Patron, Mr. R. Armiger; president, Mr. J. WAIROA KCGBV UNION". The annual meeting of the Wairoa Rugby Union was held in Mr. Meredith's clubroom, Aratapu, on Wednesday evening, Mr. J. Stallworihy in the chair. The following delegates were presentAratapu P.C., Messrs. W. Smith, Butlaud, and E. Bassett; Koijnt'U F.C., Messrs. T. Elliott, E, Phelan, and J. Molloy; United E.G., Messrs. Alex. Smith. W. Tate, and J. O'Neill; Arapohue, Mr. 11. Patoti. The balance-sheet showed that last season began with a credit balance of t'L'H, and closed with liabilities amounting to £1S odd, to meet which the balance in bank only amounted to (is sd. The receipts last season, including balance from previous year, amounted to £G7, and the principal item of expenditure was £53 towards the expenses of the representatives' tour to Auckland, Thames, and Waikato. A vote ol thanks was accorded to Mr. E. Bassett, the retiring secretary, for his many services on behalf of the Union, and lie was unanimously elected a life member of the Union. Mr. Basset!, in a few very appropriate words, thanked the meeting for the honour conferred upon him. Some wag suggested that the Franklin game should be played at Waikomiti. Mr. Molloy moved, That no club not entering a senior team shall be allowed to compete in the junior championship. Considerable discussion ensued, and the motion was ultimately deferred. Mr. Klliott moved. That a district scheme be introduced forthwith. Mr. Pa ton moved, as an amendment, That a committee be first appointed to draw up boundaries and report at next meeting. An irregular discussion ensued, after which the amendment was lost, and the motion carried by six votes to four. Mr. Smith moved, That a committee be appointed to draw up boundaries, and submit the same to an adjourned meeting to be held on Wednesday next. This was agreed to, and the following v/ere appointed the committee for the purpose Messrs. Bassett, Elliott, O'Neill, and K. Patou. Mr. O'Neill moved that a benefit match in aid of the Ikunnerton relief fund bo played on the Dargaville ground on Saturday, the 23th instant, the sides to be North v. South, Arapohue to be included in the North, and that the "secretary 1 make "all necessary arrangements. Agreed to. Mr. A. Smith wanted to know when the cups won last season were to lie presented. Mr. Bassett explained that he had called a special meeting of the Union at the close of last season to consider this amkother matters, but only two delegates responded, and the meeting lapsed. Mr. Smith was one of those who did not attend. It was decided to present the cups at the adjourned meeting on Wednesday next. Messrs. Molloy and Butlaud were appointed to select the South team for Saturday week, and the United delegates were appointed to select the North team. The first general meeting of the United Football Club was held at Corcoran's Hall, Dargaville, on Saturday evening. There was a good attendance of about 30 members, and Mr. Cheriton was voted to the chair. The election of officers was as follows :—Patron, Mr. C. H. Gould; president, Mr. J. Mitchelson ; vice-presidents, several; secretary. Mr. Cheriton; treasurer, Mr. H.J. Vail; selection committee, Messrs. Gould and Aiex. Smith; delegates to Union, Messrs. A. Smith, J. O'Neill and W. Tate. The election of a captain was left over for the first fifteen to select after they arc chosen. The colours were fixed at blue and white, and the subscription at 2s (3d the season. Mr. Rogers' hall has been secured for training purposes, and with such new blood as H. Stevenson, W. Tate, aud the assistance ot Alex.
