THE NEW GOVERNOR OF ZEITUN. PROTEST BY THE POWERS. Press Association.— Telegraph.—Copyright. London, April 19. The Porte lias appointed a Mohammedan as Governor of Zeitun. The Powers are protesting. The Westminster Gazette says that 50,000 people are starving in the Vilayet of Rozeroum. Russia could stop the persecution in h;ilf-an*hour, but prefers to see Christians die. Ottawa, April 19. The Canadian House of Commons has passed a unanimous resolution urging the Powers to take united action to ameliorate the conditions of the Christians in Turkey.
