Capetown, April 3. Two thousand natives are entrenched at Matapopo. The British are forming columns for the purpose of sweeping the hills. A Matabele force attacked a small relief party, and after a desperate struggle, killed the party, capturing 3000 rounds of ammunition and 30 rifles. Subsequently a patrol party encountered the natives, whom they defeated, and killed 30 of them. The natives fought with assegais, and the struggle was hand-to-hand. The total native loss is over 100.
