The protests lodged yesterday against Christchurch and Kumara in the various events wore dismissed.
The Challenge Shield presented by Messrs. Shand, Mason, and Co., London, to the officer of the Brigade scoring tho greatest number of points was awarded to Superintendent E. Smith, of Christchurch Brigade, which scored 15 points. Ashburton brigade came second, with 13 points ; Napier third, with 11 points Hastings fourth, with 8 points; Spib fifth, with 7 points.

The well-known firm of Messrs. J. S. Pry and Sous, Cocoa and Chocolate Manufacturers, has converted its business into a Private Company (Limited). The change has boon made for family reasons, all the snares being held by members of the family. The capital is £1,000,000. Messrs, J. S. fry and Sons' agents here, Messrs. T. H.
