THE REVENUE OF THE COLONY.

Wellington, Friday, The ordinary revenue of the colony for the quarter ended 31st December, 1805, was £1,210,511. The principal items were:— Customs, £412,308 j stamps, £152,734; postal and telegraph cash receipts, £17,224; land and income tax, £203,816; railways, £282,705. The ordinary and territorial revenue for corresponding quarter of 1894 was £005,793. The postal revenue for the quarter ending the 31st December, 1895, was £51,627, as compiled with £49,463 for the corresponding quarter of the previous year. Telegraph revenue was £30,702, as against £32,816. In savings' bank business for the same period the excess of deposits over withdrawals was 51,730, as against 68,973 for the same quarter of last year. There was a fairly large increase in the value of postal notes paid and sold.
