TWO RACEHORSES BURNED TO DEATH. Wellington, Thursday. By a fire at the stables of the Tauheremnku Hotel, near Featherston, the racehorses Ruby and Longwood were burned to death. An English cablegram states that Mr. Paton, broker, has purchased the Aucklandbred stallion. Carnage (by Nordenfeldt— Mersey), and that the horse's list is tull for the season 1896. Mr. Wynyard, secretary of the Takapuna Jockey Club forwards the following additional acceptances which were lodged at Devonport: —Maiden Steeples; Glenlora, 9«71b. Pony Handicap: Libeller,7st 61b; Mavourneen, 9st 101b.
